Christophe Rull Patisserie

A rise of apartments, restaurants, cafes, and buildings are moving into San Marcos near the CSU. Late last year, out of all those new buildings, emerged a new pastry business whose chef is Michelin-Trained chef, Christophe Rull.

As the picky eater that I am, I knew that I had to try a couple of sweets before making this post. I always default to a chocolate croissant, but wanted to try new things first.

Needless to say, every pastry was great but what really blew my mind was the chocolate croissant which was warmed up. The bread was warm and melted in my mouth with every bite. I have never tasted a chocolate croissant this good, and I have tasted a lot of them. It was as if the chocolate inside surrendered itself and became part of the croissant, where every bite permitted me to taste both richness and sweetness. Most croissants in other cafes, even when heated, still contain a stubborn rod of chocolate that gives me an impression of eating a hot dog with a hardened chocolate bar in the center. This one was entirely different. It had the perfect ratio.

If you are in the area, I would highly recommend coming here. They have fresh baguettes, macaroons, a variety of sandwiches, and more.

At the time of posting this, there is a lot of construction going on nearby, but it isn’t bothersome. Regardless, in time, this area would be great to get a pastry and coffee, and walk around the area. Perhaps stopping by one of the many restaurants for lunch.
